Mechanical Breakdown Policy
Our commitment to you:-
We are committed to ensuring that your vehicle remains in a usable, safe and roadworthy condition. We will repair your vehicle in a timely manner if it has a mechanical defect or becomes unsafe or unroadworthy.
24 Hour RACV Roadside Assist
In the event that your vehicle has a mechanical breakdown, the RACV will come to you and try to get your vehicle going again. If needed the RACV will tow your vehicle anywhere in the Metropolitan area up to 30 kms or back to their depot if you are in the country. Please note that if you ask the RACV to tow the vehicle further than that above, the RACV will ask you to pay for the additional mileage.
In the event that the RACV cannot get your vehicle going, they will provide you with a taxi fare to the value of $50 (this must be authorized by us). It is important to note that the fare cannot be redeemed for cash and that you will have to pay for the remainder of the fare if it exceeds $50.
Unfortunately we cannot reimburse you for any costs incurred in the event of a mechanical breakdown.
What happens after I report a mechanical problem to You Own Rentals?
We will assess the problem and determine the best method of repair. If necessary, we will arrange to collect your vehicle and bring it in to our workshop or nominated repairer. If this is the case, we may provide you with a loan vehicle (see our policy on Loan Vehicles below).
In some instances we may make arrangements for you to take the vehicle to a local repairer in your area. Whilst we do not cover the cost of you taking the vehicle to a repairer, we will pay the repairer for work done to the vehicle (subject to your Terms & Conditions of Rental) provided he/she supplies us with a quotation prior to commencing any work.
If we have to collect your vehicle for repair, we will do so in the most timely manner possible. If you require it to be collected or returned sooner than we are able to get to it, please feel free to make arrangements with us for you to drop it off and/or pick it up.
